- Lucknow, Nov 3(ANI): An irate mob torched vehicles at the concrete mix plant of a private construction company, after a dumper fatally knocked down a local in Gomti Nagar region of Lucknow on Tuesday.
According to police, the agitated members of the nearby areas went on a rampage after a 35-year-old man, identified as Tanveer Ahmed was crushed to death by a dumper.
The police had to resort to baton charge to control the mob fury.
“Thirty-five year old Tanveer died after he was run over and crushed by the dumper of a construction company. While we were investigating the cause of the accident, a mob fury from the nearby village emerged on the scene and started pelting stones and bricks,” said Paresh Pandey, Superintendent of Police of Gomti Nagar.
“They torched nearby vehicles and by the time extra force was called, two vehicles were burnt down by them. Fire engines were called in to control the fire,” Pandey said.
