New Delhi, Aug 6 (ANI): Iran is suspicious about the revelations made by web portal WikiLeaks, exposing the dubious designs of Pakistani spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence in targeting Indian interests in Kabul and role of Tehran in fuelling insurgency in Afghanistan.

WikiLeaks, the whistle-blower organization has posted over 90,000 classified reports about the Afghan war, which exposes ISI’s profound links with Taliban, and its complicity in terrorist attacks on Indian interests in Afghanistan, including attack on the Indian Embassy in 2008.

The disclosure of a six-year archive of classified US military documents by the WikiLeaks.org website underscores deep suspicions about the role of ISI in War against Terror.

“We are suspicious of revealing of these documents because issues raised in these documents are not new ones,” Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Fathollahi told reporters in New Delhi.

Fathollahi further said that by releasing this report “special goals and objectives” are being followed in order to create an atmosphere.

“We believe raising of these issues at this time which we know in the past they have existed we consider it as a kind of strain for development, stability and political process of Afghanistan,” he said while commenting on WikiLeaks report.

India sees validity in the leaked documents, which vindicates New Delhi’s charge of complicity between terrorist networks and ISI.

US has already initiated investigations in the biggest leak in its defence history, and Pentagon is now said to be searching for moles in US Afghanistan operations.

The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister is visiting Delhi and has held comprehensive ‘consultations’ on Afghanistan with External Affairs Minister SM Krishna and Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao on Thursday.

Iran and India share almost identical positions and “close viewpoint” on development of Afghanistan.

Speaking on reconciliation and reintegration of Taliban militants in Afghanistan, Fathollahi said: “We disagree that that trouble in Afghanistan has a military solution, we don’t agree that the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan is a solution. Government of Afghanistan should be trusted.”

Fathollahi denied that there is any pressure on New Delhi from Washington to downgrade its relationship with Tehran.

He also told reporters that the Chahbahar port is partially ready, having four million tones of uploading capacity and soon it will be developed further so that Indian goods can be transited into Afghanistan.

Fathollahi visit to New Delhi is the second ministerial visit in less than a month and follows the July 9 joint commission meeting at which Tehran had relented to expedite work at the Chabahar port that could deepen India’s outreach in both Afghanistan and Central Asia. (ANI)
