Iran Foreign Minister calls for use of media to portray real image of Islam
November 4th, 2008 - 12:20 pm ICT by ANI - Send to a friend:Tehran , Nov 4 (ANI): The capacity of the mass media and information technology must be used in introducing and improving the real image of Islam worldwide, Iran Foreign Minister Hassan Qashqavi has reportedly said.
Qashqavi urged the Muslim countries to pay due attention to thwart organized propaganda campaign against Islam, instead of focusing on minor religious differences among various Islamic sects, reported the Daily Times.
Addressing an international conference on Islam and Media in the 21st century in Sudan , Qashqavi said that Islamic scholars should downgrade minor differences among various Islamic sects and focus on neutralising organised propaganda against Islam.
Solidarity of media activities in the Muslim world is necessary to guide the world public opinion about Islam, Qashqavi said while referring to the key role played by mass media to this end.
Foreign Ministry said in a statement that during his address to the conference, the spokesman outlined Tehran s view on the ways to lead world public opinion by media activities.
He stressed that Islamic states could successfully portray a logical and acceptable image of Islam for the world public opinion through making optimum use of mass media, added the paper. (ANI)
