IPL: Mumbai Indians beat Deccan Chargers by 37 runs

Sachin Tendulkar Hyderabad, Apr 24(ANI): The Mumbai Indians on Sunday defeated the Deccan Chargers by 37 runs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Chasing 173 to win, the Deccan Chargers were restricted to 135-8 in their 20 overs.

Lasith Malinga was the pick of the bowlers for the Mumbai Indians, finishing with excellent match figures of 3-9 from his four overs.

The team led by Sachin Tendulkar was also backed by some outstanding fielding that resulted in a couple of run-outs.

Earlier, an unbeaten 102-run fifth-wicket stand between Rohit Sharma (56 not out off 34) and Andrew Symonds (44 not out off 33) saw the Mumbai outfit recover from 70-4 to 172-4.

They were also provided a solid start by openers Davy Jacobs (32) and Tendulkar (28).

It was a third straight win for the Mumbai Indians. (ANI)
