New Delhi, Mar 16 (ANI): The Indian Premier League is likely to submit a revised schedule on Tuesday after Home Ministry advised IPL organisers that it may not be possible to hold the Twenty20 series as per its previous revised schedule.

A meeting between the Home Ministry and the BCCI officials on Monday ended without resolution with the Ministry making it clear that it was not in a position to spare para-military forces because of the Lok Sabha elections.

A three-member BCCI team, led by Secretary N. Srinivasan, met Special Secretary (Internal Security) Raman Srivastava here.

Srivastava told the BCCI officials that the organisers should work out a new schedule in consultation with the State governments where the matches are to be played.

During the meetings, the organisers also expressed their difficulties and concerns and importance of all the stakeholders in front of the Secretary.

Home Ministry has suggested the IPL organisers to change the venue at Visakhapatnam to Dharamshala as Andhra Pradesh Government had refused to provide security for four matches between April 19 to April 29.

On March 13, the home ministry held a 90-minute videoconference with senior officials of the states where the IPL matches are scheduled to be played in April.

The states are understood to have again told the home ministry that it was not possible to hold the Twenty20 matches without additional security personnel from the central grid.

Concerned over the availability of paramilitary forces in view of the forthcoming elections, the Home Ministry had sent a revised schedule to the states concerned on March seven, avoiding the polling dates. (ANI)
