International Campaign for Tibet members to meet Dalai Lama
November 4th, 2010 - 12:57 pm ICT by ANIDharamshala, Nov 4 (ANI): Members of the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) will meet the Dalai Lama here today.
“We are here to meet His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, to discuss ways where the International Campaign for Tibet can be supportive of their work,” said Mary, president of ICT.
Earlier, they met with all the important officials of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), including Samdhong Rinpoche, Tibet’s Prime Minister-in-Exile and Dolma Gyari, Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
Rinpoche discussed various issues with them to take the Tibetan cause to the next level.
“They (members of International Campaign for Tibet) come here to see His Holiness and also meet we people to review their work and to strategise in future how prioritise what kind of campaigning they should do, so for this consultation they have paid a visit. It was actually coincide with International Tibetan Support Group, which is going to be held in Haryana from tomorrow,” Rinpoche added.
However, this is the first formal visit by the ICT board of directors to Dharamshala, though senior staffers of it frequently visit the hilly town.
ICT is a private non-profit advocacy group working to promote freedom for the Tibetans, ensure human rights, and protect the Tibetan culture and environment.
Founded in 1988, ICT is the world’s largest Tibet-related non-profit group, with a total membership of over 400,000 as of 2007. (ANI)
