International book fair kicks off in Delhi today
February 2nd, 2008 - 11:49 am ICT by adminNew Delhi, Feb 2 (ANI): The nine-day international book fair begins in the national capital today. The highlights of the 18th New Delhi World Book Fair include an international rights exhibition on the works on and by Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
The fair has separate pavilions for children and youth that will be inaugurated by Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh.
A number of programmes will also be organised by Russia, who is the guest of honour at this fair in view of the year being declared as the ‘Year of Russia’.
The audio-visual section will feature a catalogue containing information about nearly 50 documentaries filmed by Films Division, Doordarshan and NFDC on Mahatma Gandhi.
Special programmes like exhibition of picture books, story telling and creative writing workshops have also been organised for children.
An International Conference on STM Publishing called Professional Publishing in Asia, will also held as part of the book fair at the India Habitat Centre, by the Frankfurt Book Fair in collaboration with National Book Trust.
Two world book fair bulletins will be published daily, one in Hindi and one in English. (ANI)
