Instincts are a GPS system for life: Oprah WinfreyJune 17th, 2008 - 4:43 pm ICT by ANI
Washington, June 17 (ANI): Addressing 4,700 graduates at California’s Stanford University, chat show queen Oprah Winfrey advised them always follow their instincts, for they are like “a GPS system for life”.
During her stirring commencement address the media mogul told the students that going by their gut-feeling would save them from making many wrong decisions.
“When you are doing the work you are meant to do, it feels right. Check your ego at the door and check your gut instead. Every wrong decision was the result of me not listening to my voice. If it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it, Conatctmusci quoted her, as saying.
The philanthropic lady also confessed that she made a mistake by not following her instincts when she built her scandal-hit school for girls in Africa .
She said that she was so engrossed in planning the schools architecture, that she ignored the part of appointing the right people, as one of the employees was charged with abusing girls at the academy last year (07).
“I had been paying attention to all of the wrong things. I built a school from the outside in, instead of from the inside out, said Winfrey,
This commencement address at Stanford also held additional importance for Oprah as her best friend Gayle King’s daughter, and her goddaughter, was also among the graduates. (ANI)
