New Delhi, Jan 8(ANI): Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday remarked that the country’s recovery from global economic slowdown had been rapid.
Mukherjee said this while addressing delegates of the Global Advisory Council of People of Indian Origin, a forum of non-resident Indians, in the national capital.
“The world is emerging from unprecedented global economic slowdown. Although the international environment is far from stable, it has weathered the crisis and the developed economies are gradually limping back to normalcy,” Mukherjee said.
“India’s recovery has been rapid and sure-footed. Strong fundamentals, timely prudent policies and a calibrated reform process have helped to contain the impact of the crisis from ravaging our newfound growth momentum,” he added.
About 1,500 overseas delegates and several Chief Ministers are attending the three-day conclave that would conclude on Sunday. (ANI)
