Sonepat (Haryana), Oct.29 (ANI): Indian wrestlers are undergoing a training in Sonepat for the upcoming 16th Asian Games, to be held in China’s Guangzhou city in November.
Gold medallist wrestler, Sushil Kumar, said the practice sessions are going smoothly.
“As you can see, our team is practising very hard and both coaches - chief and assistant coach - is providing good training. Every player is working very hard for the Asian Games as they did at the time of Commonwealth Games,” said Kumar.
The wrestlers said they are pleased with their training sessions, and were satisfied with the facilities provided by the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
The team physiotherapist Arvindre Pal Singh, said that the wrestlers are taken care of, both physically and mentally.
“We train them mainly in the areas like stretching during and after practice or else we take care of the injuries, and we train with which muscle part will give benefit and what group of muscles are working. So, we take care of all the medical facilities so that in later stages they don’t find any problems. We also take care of their state of mind, we consult them,” said Singh.
The 16th Asian Games 2010 will be held from November 12 to 27 in Guangzhou, China.
The Asian Games is the second mega multi-sport event after the Olympics.
The 16-day-long sports event would feature 42 sports, including 28 Olympic sports and 14 non-Olympic sports and athletes from 45 nations would also be participating. (ANI)
