Kathmandu, Mar.19 (ANI): India’s Ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, has said that Indian and Nepali security forces have both been put on alert to check possible criminal activities ahead of the April 10 Constituent Assembly elections.
Talking to reporters on Wednesday after laying the foundation stone of the Emergency and Maternity Ward of the Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in Rajbiraj in Saptari District, Ambassador Mukherjee said that Indian authorities were in constant touch with their Nepali counterparts to step up vigilance in border areas. He also made it clear that India would not tolerate activities that could adversely affect the polls.
India is very much aware that criminal activities in Nepal would increase as the election draws near, Nepal News quoted Mukherjee as saying.
Reports say Nepali and the Indian security forces have intensified security checks and patrolling along the border.
The hospital is being constructed with Indian assistance of Rs 30 million. (ANI)
