Muzaffarabad, Dec.8 (ANI): The chief of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa, the political wing of the banned militant organization, Lashkar-e-Toiba, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has accused India of wanting to destroy Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.
Saeed told Geo News that the ongoing operation in Pakistan Kashmir was under Indian pressure, and this was unwarranted.
Saeed further said that the targeting of Kashmiri organizations without any proof was an expression of weakness.
Earlier, wanted Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander, Zakiur Rehman Lakhwi was reportedly arrested by Pakistani army personnel on the outskirts of Muzaffarabad.
According to sources, over 20 members of the banned LeT, including its Azad Kashmir chief were arrested during a crackdown.
The army had on Sunday launched a crackdown on activists of the LeT and its front organisation Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) on the outskirts of the Azad Kashmir capital. There were reports also of a one school and a madrassa being taken over.
The army raided a site housing some infrastructure currently used by JuD, which is headed by Hafiz Mohammad Saeed.
However, there was no official confirmation about the attack from the Interior Ministry or the Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR).
Residents said they saw army personnel taking charge of the area along the Shawai Nullah, some five kilometres northwest of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan administered Kashmir.
Ambulances were also called out to the site, but witnesses said they returned without any casualties.
Before the ban was imposed, the LeT, founded by Hafiz Saeed, occupied this area.
