India signs pacts with Croatia on healthcare, cultural exchange
June 10th, 2010 - 6:48 pm ICT by ANIZagreb (Croatia) June 10 (ANI): In an historic landmark, India and Croatia signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on healthcare and cultural exchange on Thursday in the Croatian capital, Zagreb.
The bilateral pacts, signed during the two-day state visit of Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari to Croatia, aim at boosting cooperation between the two countries in the medical and cultural sectors.
Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Sachin Pilot, and Croatian State Secretary for Health, Ante Zvonimir Golem, inked a MoU on health and medicine.
The signatories to the pact on cultural exchange were Indian Ambassador to Croatia, Pradeep Singh, and Croatian Cultural Minister, Bozo Biskupic.
The signing of the MoUs was presided over by Hamid Ansari and Croatian President, Ivo Josipovic.
The healthcare pact would ensure free flow of information between India and Croatia in the fields of medical treatments, research and pharmacy.
Under the provisions of the MoU, exhibitions on contemporary Indian art and miniature paintings would be held in Croatia, and similar Croatian exhibits would be showcased in India over the next two years.
The MoUs are expected to provide a fillip to Indo-Croatian cooperation and understanding.
Ansari arrived in the Croatian capital Zagreb on Wednesday along with his high level delegation as part of a two-day state visit to the country.
During the first leg of his weeklong trip, Ansari also visited the Czech Republic where he met the Czech President Vaclav Klaus, Prime Minister Jan Fischer and the President of Czech Senate, Premysl Sobotka, and signed three pacts.(ANI)
