New Delhi, Sept 22 (ANI): Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram today said that the level of preparedness is being increased to deal with the possible terror threat or terror attack.
Answering a question on the security forces preparedness during the ongoing festive season, Chidambaram assured the country that security and intelligence forces are aware of the threat and are all set to deal with them.
“We are fully aware of the threat from across the border. We have good intelligence and we are taking preventive steps. So I don’t think, we should get alarmed or we should present an alarmist picture. Our security forces and our intelligence forces are capable of dealing with any threat,” he said.
“We are increasing the level of preparedness to meet any terror threat or terror attack. In case of a terror threat or terror attack, our response will be swift and decisive,” he added.
Recently, an Israeli television reported that Israel would warn its citizens to avoid India after receiving a “pinpoint” intelligence tip-off that Pakistani militants may carry out a series of attacks there in the coming weeks.
Citing a leaked copy of the travel advisory, Channel Two said that the alleged militants had al-Qaeda links and planned to target both Western and Jewish tourists in attacks similar to last year’s attacks in Mumbai.
Indian officials said on Friday that they were in contact with Israel about the possible threat input. (ANI)
