India, Pak agree to identify further counter-terrorism stepsJune 24th, 2008 - 10:57 pm ICT by ANI
Islamabad , June 24 (ANI): India and Pakistan on Tuesday agreed to identify further steps to counter the menace of terrorism, which has had a telling impact in both countries in recent times.
A joint statement issued at the end of the third meeting held here between the two sides on a joint anti-terrorism mechanism, said that both sides had reviewed the follow up steps taken on the information shared during the earlier meeting of the mechanism.
It also said that both sides had shared fresh information on terrorist incidents and agreed to continue to work to identify counter-terrorism measures, assist in investigations through exchange of specific information and for preventing violence and terrorist acts.
Mr. Masood Khalid, Additional Secretary (AP), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, led the Pakistan team at the talks, while Mr. Vivek Katju, Additional Secretary (Pol and IO), Ministry of External Affairs of India, led the Indian side.
During its stay in Islamabad , the Indian delegation also called on Pakistan s Acting Foreign Secretary, Mr. Khalid Aziz Babar. (ANI)
