India observes National Safety Day
March 4th, 2011 - 1:14 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Mar 4(ANI): National Safety Day (NSD) was being observed across the country on Friday to promote the safety of employees in work places.
This year’s theme was “Establish and maintain Preventive Safety and Health Culture.”
Various functions, seminars and programmes will be organised by industries, regulatory agencies, trade unions and other professional institutions to highlight the safety and health issues affecting both employees and general public.
Cultural events, poster designing and slogan writing competitions will be held to encourage involvement of employees.
The aim of NSD is to renew the commitment of employees and general public to work safely throughout the year.
More than 90 percent of workforce in the country is employed in the unorganised sector. (ANI)
