India-Kenya Joint Trade Committee meeting in Nairobi
October 12th, 2010 - 4:22 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma will address the 6th India-Kenya Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting in Nairobi on Wednesday.
During his visit, Sharma is scheduled to meet Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Oding.
He will also hold bilateral meetings with Kenyan Foreign Minister Moses Wetang’ula and Trade Minister Chirau Ali Mwakwere.
Sharma will inaugurate the ‘Namaskar Africa’ and “India-East Africa Business Forum” on October 14, which is being organized by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and COMESA Business Council.
India’s total trade with Kenya stood at 1.530 billion dollars (exports -1.452 billion dollars and imports -78.93 million dollars).
Indian companies have invested 134.31 million dollars in Kenya during April 2005 to October 2009. Comparatively, FDI inflows from Kenya to India was 15.85 million dollars during April 2000 to July 2010. (ANI)
