India International Hot Air Balloon fair begins in DelhiNovember 17th, 2007 - 9:35 pm ICT by admin
New Delhi, Nov 17 (ANI): Former Goa Governor Bhanu Prakash Singh today inaugurated the 23rd India International Hot Air Balloon fair at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Football Ground here.
The event saw teams participating from India and abroad.
The participants and spectators were visibly excited about the annual event.
Speaking about her experience in ballooning, France’s Petra Bolten said: “Ballooning is a very quiet (sport). Its not very spicy, but is (nevertheless) adventurous. It is another way to discover the country from above.”
For others, ballooning in India was more exciting, as they loved the country.
“I have been flying in more than 30 countries, but I love India very much. I think it’s a great opportunity to fly here. You take off from Delhi, fly over Delhi and land somewhere outside Delhi and I think it’s a great opportunity,” said Blaser, a balloonist from Switzerland.
A children’s painting competition was also held at the inaugural ceremony. Joy rides for children were also the attraction of the day.
After inaugural flights in Delhi, the teams will be flying from Agra, Jaipur, Krishangarh, Pushkar, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. (ANI)
