India in touch with Iran govt to expedite detained Indian sailors’ release
March 5th, 2011 - 9:47 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Mar 5(ANI): The Indian Embassy in Tehran is in touch with the Iranian government to expedite the release of Indian sailors, who were detained near Iranian coast on February 16, MEA sources have said.
The sources said that nine sailors had set sail on MSV Ramban with 513 livestock from Tuna port of Kutch in Gujarat to Dubai on February 11. En route they encountered rough weather and sought shelter along Iranian coast, where they were detained by the Iranian Navy.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran was informed about the incident on February 24.
It sought details about the incident, and took the matter with Iranian government February 27, the sources said. (ANI)
