Bangalore, Mar 6 (ANI): External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on Saturday rebuffed the media reports that referred to a World Bank document quoting him as saying that India will not pose any Arunachal Pradesh project to the World Bank under Chinese pressure.
Talking to reporters here, Krishna said: “We have not buckled under Chinese pressure. No certainly not, It is not reported correctly. I have never said that we are going to abandon our projects either in Arunachal Pradesh or any other Pradesh”.
“Arunachal Pradesh is part and parcel of this great country of ours, we would certainly take up the projects of development in the state of Arunachal Pradesh,” he added
Krishna, however, said India will fund the projects in Arunachal Pradesh with its internal resources and will not seek financial assistance from the World Bank or the Asia Development Bank,
“If we can find internal resources to take up these projects where is the compulsion for us to seek the World Bank and the Asia Development Bank or some other agencies support? he asked.
“The necessity comes when we are starved of funds for technical projects in our country which is inclusive of Arunachal Pradesh, as if now for every project in Arunachal Pradesh we have been able to tie up internal resources”, he said.
The World Bank and the Asia Development Bank reportedly referred Arunachal Pradesh as disputed region, which has dismayed India. (ANI)
