New Delhi, Nov 20(ANI): Ahead of his landmark visit to the United States, the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, has asserted that India wants the US to use all of its influence with Pakistan to stop it from sponsoring terrorism.
He also said the Indian Government is committed to resolving all outstanding issues with Pakistan through bilateral negotiations.
“We are committed to resolving all outstanding issues with Pakistan through bilateral negotiations. Our only condition is that Pakistan should not allow its territory to be used for acts of terrorism against India,” Manmohan Singh said in the interview with the Washington Post.
“Everyday, I receive intelligence reports saying that terrorists based in Pakistan are planning other similar acts. If Pakistan really honours that commitment, we can go back to negotiation to resolve all outstanding issues between us,” he added.
Earlier, on November 18, US Ambassador to India Timothy J. Roemer had said that expanding counter-terror cooperation would be a basis for discussions between the Obama administration and Manmohan Singh during his visit.
“We have experienced 9/11. India has experienced 26/11. We will continue to work shoulder-to-shoulder, hand in hand and hour by hour in fighting terrorism,” Roemer had said. (ANI)
