India, Bahrain relations based on historical and civilisational ties: Krishna
March 30th, 2011 - 3:16 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Mar 30 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S M Krishna has said that India and Bahrain enjoy warm and friendly relations, which are based on historical and civilisational ties.
“India and Bahrain enjoy warm and friendly relations which are based on our historical and civilisational ties. The presence of a large Indian community in Bahrain represents a living link which nurtures this long-standing relationship,” said Krishna in his opening remarks during the visit of Foreign Minister of Bahrain Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa.
“We are indeed thankful to the Government and the people of Bahrain for extending a warm welcome to the sizeable Indian community there who in turn have contributed through their dedication and hard work to Bahrain’s development. This contribution has been recognized by the Bahraini leadership and we thank them for their continued support to the Indian community,” he added.
Welcoming the Bahrain Foreign Minister, who is on a three-day visit to India, Krishna said: “The visit of Shaikh Khalid is part of the tradition of having high level visits in order to exchange views on matters of mutual interest. I once again extend him a very warm welcome and invite him to share his thoughts with you.” (ANI)
