Imbroglio continues as NDA stay put to its demand
December 3rd, 2010 - 7:46 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Dec.3 (ANI): The impasse over the 2G-spectrum scam continues as BJP sticked to its demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
Senior BJP leader LK Advani told reporters that the present impasse in parliament would continue till the government agrees for a probe.
He expressed dismay at the refusal of the Congress led UPA government to conduct a JPC when it will be headed by one of its nominees.
Advani said, ” The Congress led UPA government has failed to convince anyone in the opposition why a JPC is not necessary.”
He alleged that the government was indifferent to corruption and was still adamant when corruption of such a scale was in question.
He said that he don’t have any faith in institutions like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) anymore as it was used by the government to target political opponents and sabotaging certain investigations.
He questioned the appointment of PJ Thomas as the new Chief Vigilance Commissioner when he had tried to deprive the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG)
the authority of investigating into the irregularities in the allotment of the 2G spectrum. He added that his appointment has destroyed the credibility of the institution.
Calling on other opposition parties to join in mobilising public opinion against corruption, he said that the government could only stop the impasse now. (ANI)
