Ill-fated Kuber’s owner still shudders to recall 26/11 in Gujarat
November 26th, 2009 - 8:56 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Porbander (Gujarat), Nov.26 (ANI): Hiralal Masani, owner of MV Kuber, the ill-fated trawler which was reportedly hijacked by the militants to open an indiscriminate fire in Mumbai city last year, still shudders to recall the horror of last year’s 26/11 attacks.
Kuber, which is lying on the Porbandar coast in Gujarat state, remains untouched and unattended ever since it was returned to its owner.
The wooden trawler was one of the three fishing trawlers that was once a source of livelihood for Masani and his brothers, until militants hijacked it and turned into a scary liability.
Recalling the horror, Hiralal Masani said that they pray to god that such a thing should not happen again.
“We pray to god that such thing does not happen again and we continue to earn our bread and butter,” said Hiralal Masani.
Balu Makvana, a local fisherman, said that the incident would be hard to forget.
“The militants captured the boat last year and I will never forget this. I know we can not do anything but can only pray for the souls of those who died in the boat,” said Balu Makvana, a local fisherman.
Ten gunmen landed on Mumbai shores by boats at sunset on November 26, 2008 and fired indiscriminately at a busy railway station, a Jewish settlement, a cafe and luxury hotels.
One gunman, Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, who claims to be Pakistani national, was taken alive and presently he is facing trial in a special court in Mumbai. (ANI)
