IIT websites swamped as IIT-JEE 2009 Online results released

IIT website Tens of thousands of Indian students wishing to pursue a career in engineering have swamped online sites today as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) make public the results of the 2009 joint entrance exam (JEE).

The exam was conducted on April 12 and comprised two, three-hour long exams covering physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Those who successfully pass the entrance exam will be eligible to commence their undergraduate studies at one of the Indian Institute of Technology facilities throughout India.

The IITs are a group of thirteen autonomous engineering and technology-oriented institutes of higher education established and declared as Institutes of National Importance by the Parliament of India.

IITs can be found in: Bombay, Madras, Kanpur, Delhi, Kharagpur, Guwahati, and Roorkee.

Candidates applying for the IIT-JEE 2009 must have either passed the 2008 qualifying examinations or should have sat the 2009 qualifying examination.
