New Delhi, May 24 (ANI): The Indian Air Forces helicopter aerobatics display team Sarang would be performing at the Berlin Air Show for the first time.
The Sarang team of 14 officers and 32 airmen, led by the Commanding Officer Wing Commander Shashank Misra, is slated to perform in the ILA 2008 (Air show) being held in Berlin from May 27 to June 1.
After that the Sarang team will participate in Biggin Hill Air Show in London on June 7-8, followed by displays at the Waddington Air Show on July 5-6. The team will also show its aerobatic skills at the Fairford Royal International Air Tattoo on July 12-13, which is being held to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Royal Air Force.
The teams tour culminates with display during the Farnborough International Air Show from 14 to 20 Jul 08.
The Sarang team has been adjudged as one amongst the 10 best display teams in the world after its performance at the AI Ain Aerobatic Show at UAE in January 2005.
The Berlin Air Show is the oldest air show in the world dating back to 1909. India is participating in this leading air show as a Partner Country in the Defence sector for the first time.
Germanys Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel will open the air show on May 27. Defence Minister A K Antony will attend the Berlin Air Show and will also hold talks with his German counterpart Dr. Franz Josef Jung. (ANI)
