IAF orders probe against Wing Commander for taking bribe

New Delhi, Mar 8(ANI): The Indian Air force on Tuesday ordered a court of inquiry against Wing Commander A. K. Thakur for allegedly taking bribe.

Thakur was reportedly caught accepting bribe from French aviation manufacturing company, Dassault for helping them display their aircraft prominently at the Aero- India 2011 in Bangalore.

The French company had informed the authorities when Thakur asked for an amount of Rs 20,000. On receiving the complaint, the defence exhibition orgainsation laid a trap and caught the officer red-handed.

The court of inquiry is being headed by a Group Captain rank officer. It would investigate whether he had similarly received bribes from other companies at the show.

Thakur had confessed to his crime when he was apprehended.

Aero-India 2011 was the largest domestic air show in which 45 foreign aircraft including 26 civil aircraft participated. As many as 50 official delegates from various countries participated in the show. (ANI)
