`I want to make scoring double hundreds a habit, says BellJuly 12th, 2008 - 2:51 pm ICT by ANI
London, July 12 (ANI): A thrilled England batsman, Ian Bell, who scored 199 against the South Africans on Friday in the Lords Test, has said that he would like to score double hundreds with more regularity, and once and for all, end all the carping about his batting skills and his usefulness to the national team.
Bell, who came into this Test with a big question mark over his ability to deliver, came up with his best Test knock as South Africa were put to the sword.
He helped England score a formidable 593-8 declared.
Though identified as technically gifted, Bell has often been accused of being fragile in pressure situations.
Coming into this game, if you had offered me 199 I would have snapped your hand off, The Sun quoted Bell, as saying. A double hundred would have been nice but one short is worth taking. But I dont want to just do it once now and I hope this will be a kick start, he added.
Bell picked up the baton from Kevin Pietersen, who made 152, and was ably assisted by Stuart Broad, who weighed in with 76.
Bell admitted that there have been times when he, too, has been frustrated by his inability to turn promising knocks into eye-catching scores. (ANI)
