New Delhi, Dec 25 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari on Saturday refuting all allegations over his alleged links with corporate lobbyist Niira Radia said he did not even know her.
Terming all the allegations against him as baseless, Gadkari said: “I even do not know how Niira Radia looks. Neither she has ever called me up nor I have contacted her. There is no point in meeting or helping her. The Congress party’s reputation is at stake, therefore, they are charging false allegations. They are speaking ill of others, as they are drowning.”
“The manner in which the Congress party is behaving is unfortunate for Indian democracy. The charges of corruption in the run up to the Commonwealth Games in India and the 2G spectrum scam have given the party a bad name and they must try now to clean up things,” he added.
Further commenting on the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Gadkari said that he has failed in his responsibility to prevent such unfortunate incidents.
“There are a lot of things, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh could have avoided during his tenure. He has failed to stop such incidents. It is his responsibility and he must resign on moral grounds. This is what the people of this country want,” he added.
Meanwhile, the BJP would soon initiate legal action against the person, who has levelled such charges against its party leaders.
Earlier on Friday, the Congress demand BJP leader General Secretary Ananth Kumar’s resignation over his alleged links with corporate lobbyist Niira Radia.
Niira Radia’s former partner Rao Dheeraj Singh, suddenly surfaced on Thursday claimed that Radia and Ananth Kumar fixed deals together. (ANI)
