Huge cache detonators seized from a truck in Gaya
August 10th, 2010 - 12:42 pm ICT by ANIGaya (Bihar), Aug 10 (ANI): Bihar police have seized 12,000 detonators from a dumper truck at Rajapul under Sherghati police station in Gaya District.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a place where the dumper truck was parked and seized the detonators.
Two persons, identified as Krishna Sharma and Prabhu Tiwari, were also arrested in this connection.
“There are approximately 12000 sticks, however, we haven’t counted them as of now. Once they are counted then only the right numbers can be detected,” said Nagendra Nath Tiwari, Sup-Inspector, Aamas Police Station, Gaya.
The seized material is under inspection by experts.
As the area is Maoists-infested, the police officials believe that the explosives could have been used by the rebels to spread further menace in the region.
“At the first glance it seems that they must have been indulged in detonators business. These detonators are generally used in destroying rocky terrains and in making landmines,” Tiwari added. (ANI)
