Hooch claims 14 lives in Andhra Pradesh
January 27th, 2010 - 6:48 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Hyderabad, Jan. 27 (ANI): Spurious liquor claimed at least 14 lives in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh state.
Several hooch victims are being treated at different hospitals.
The authorities have formed seven teams to locate rest of the victims, who had consumed hooch on Tuesday, and bring them to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
“After what happened in Amalapuram, we convened a meeting with the chief minister and our first priority is to locate all those who have consumed the illicit liquor and provide them medical,” said Gopala Krishna Dvivedhi, Collector, East Godavari.
The tragedy has prompted the Andhra Pradesh Government to order a probe into the incident.
Reportedly, the government has also extended financial assistance to the affected families.(ANI)
