Honda unveils ”bicycle legs” that ease walking stress
November 8th, 2008 - 2:26 pm ICT by ANI - Send to a friend:London, Nov 8 (ANI): Workers on assembly lines in factories and those who have to walk miles for making deliveries can now ease the stress that comes with walking, thanks to a new device by Honda that resembles a bicycle.
Looking like a bicycle seat connected to a pair of shoes, the new power-assisted walking machine from Honda can ease tired and aching legs.
The device has been designed in such a way that it can support bodyweight, reduce stress on the knees and help people get up steps and even stay in crouching positions.
According to engineer Jun Ashihara, the machine is useful for people standing in long lines and for people who run around to make deliveries.
“This should be as easy to use as a bicycle. It reduces stress, and you should feel less tired,” The Telegraph quoted Ashihara as saying at Honda’’s Tokyo headquarters.
For wearing the device, all one needs to do is put the seat between the legs, and then put on the shoes. Just push the on button and start walking.
Honda Motor Co. said that the system has a computer, motor, gears, battery and sensors embedded in it so it responds to a person’’s movements.
The company is yet to reveal pricing and commercial product plans.
The carmaker will begin testing a prototype with its assembly line workers later this month for feedback. (ANI)
