Gorakhpur, Dec 24 (ANI): The poor and homeless of Gorakhpur are facing hardships, as the mercury level has dipped to the low of five degree Celsius.
The poor and homeless people living in shacks made of straw do not have any means of survival except lighting bonfires and keeping themselves warm.
The municipal corporation had made special arrangements to fight the cold. The condition has become worse since the last two days and we are providing bonfire facilities in 18 areas of the town especially public places like hospital and bus stops etc are taken special care, said Gorakhpur Mayor Anju Choudhary.
The cold wave has tightened its grip in the city over the past few days and weather conditions have affected day-to-day activities of the common man.
The biting cold is creating a lot of difficulties. But we are trying to keep ourselves warm by lighting bonfires and sitting together in groups because we don’t have any option other than this, says Kechu Kahar, a local of Gorakhpur. (ANI)
