P. Chidambaram Jammu, Dec 8 (IANS) Union Home Secretary G.K. Pillai will be here Friday to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and chalk out a plan for withdrawal of central paramilitary forces from the state.
According to a senior state government officer, the home secretary will look into the level of militancy-related violence, areas where it is high and low, the troop level needed and the need for the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

Home Minister P. Chidambaram will also be visiting the state in the next few weeks to work on the feedback provided by Pillai, informed sources said.

Chidambaram is said to be particularly worried over the attack on Hurriyat leader Fazal Haq Qureshi last week.

Chidambaram wants all security loopholes to be plugged and the state government to take necessary steps even if the separatists are not willing to accept security cover for themselves, the sources said.
