Hindraf supporters demand proper medical treatment for their leader
April 12th, 2008 - 2:14 pm ICT by admin - Send to a friend:Kuala Lumpur, Apr 12 (ANI): Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) supporters demonstrated outside the Kamunting detention camp near Taiping, demanding that their leader, P. Uthayakumar, be given proper medical attention.
The gathering came just days after the Internal Security Act (ISA) detainee was reportedly denied proper diabetes medication and food and as a result, his health was found to be deteriorating.
Hindraf national coordinator R.S. Thaneintharan claimed that Uthayakumars blood sugar level had risen to 18.8 and even after being warded at the Taiping Hospital for two days, it had remained high at 15.5.
We understand that his eye sight and heart are failing. He needs to be given immediate and proper medical attention and placed on a special diet, the Star Online quoted him, as saying.
Uthayakumar, one of five Hindraf leaders detained under the ISA following last years rally in Kuala Lumpur, was rushed to hospital on Monday after taking ill. (ANI)
