Highlights of Railway budget 2011-12 (Part-II)

New Delhi, Feb 25 (ANI): Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday presented the railway budget in the Parliament.
The highlights of the Railway budget 2011-12 are as follows:
Restructuring of all the railway cadres to ensure promotion of employees
Larger scheme for railway employees introduced, Scholarship schemes for children of railway employees raised to Rs 1200
Charges for ticket booking will be reduced, ticket booking to be cheaper by Rs 10 for AC and Rs 5 for non AC
Special provision for physically challenged people to travel by train
Railways inducting 16000 ex-servicemen from March 2011
Shares in Kalindee Rail down more than five pct
Integrated sub-urban train services in new cities
34 new services for Kolkata Metro
Integrated suburban railways network presently at Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi
Kolkata Metro is expanding its reach, new services being given for Metro in Kolkata as it is the only Metro associated with the Indian Railways
Railways earnings likely to exceed Rs 1 lakh crore
Disruption of train services has hit earnings
6th Pay Commission arrears have increased Railways’ liabilities
Concession for physically handicapped in Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains (ANI)
