High School Musical-style play that urges kids to be a proud gay leaves parents livid
November 11th, 2008 - 5:31 pm ICT by ANI - Send to a friend:London, Nov 11 (ANI): Angry parents have hit out at council bosses for staging a High School Musical-style play, which tells 11-year-olds that they should be proud to be a gay.
Parents have slammed the Barking and Dagenham Council in east London for staging the musical play FIT, urging 11 to 14 not to put up with gay or lesbian discrimination.
The play by Rikki Beadle Blair, being shown at Dagenham Park Community School, features school kids coming to terms with homosexuality.
FIT has been developed to tackle the growing problem of homophobic bullying in Britains schools, the Daily Star quoted a spokesman for his Drill Hall drama group, as saying.
However, parents refused to acknowledge the fact and say they wont allow their kids to see the play.
Maybe Im a pretty old-fashioned sort of bloke, but I dont want my boy seeing this, said a dad of a 12-year-old boy. (ANI)
