Heavy stone pelting reported in Pulwama, militants also kill three
August 23rd, 2010 - 1:32 pm ICT by ANISrinagar, Aug.23 (ANI): Heavy stone pelting has been reported from Prichoo Pulwama, Muran chowk, Rajpora chowk, Tahab and at the police station in Pulwama.
A huge mob pelted stones at these places till 11 p.m. on Sunday.
According to a media release issued from the zoal police headquarters, police exercised maximum restraint.
The release said that 28 police personnel, including the Superintendent of Police of Pulwama and three Central Reserve Police Force officials were injured, while one stone pelter was also injured.
It was also reported that some miscreants pelted stones on IRP personnel stationed at old police post Humhama last night. They were eventually chased away.
Meanwhile, militants have killed three persons in two separate incidents in Kulgam and Pulwama late on Sunday.
In Nanmarg area of Damhal Hanjipora Kulgam, four militants barged into the house of Mohammed Hussain Gorsi and killed his wife Shakeela, 40, and their daughter Zareena, 19.
Police are investigating the incident.
In the second incident that took place in Chakoora, Pulwama, militants killed Ghulam Nabi Wani, the son-in-law of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, an employee of the social welfare department. (ANI)
