Health Minister Azad inaugurates ‘Planet Health Museum’ in New Delhi
October 12th, 2010 - 4:25 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad inaugurated ‘Planet Health Museum’ here today.
He also inaugurated the exhibition to mark the occasion. The museum will remain open for the General Public from 11 A.M to 7 P.M everyday till October 31.
” Planet Health” will allow people to explore the concept of health and wellness as expounded in the traditional Indian systems of medicine.
Starting from the concept of health and alternative perspectives of the body, the project illustrates new vision and tools for a healthy society, which in turn will create a healthy country and a healthy planet.
The project presents this vision across a spectrum of disciplines using many forms of visual and performing arts, ancient sciences, cutting edge modern interactive designs and computer science.
The project builds upon the successful track record of digital museums built by Ranjit Makkuni of Sacred World, e.g., “Eternal Gandhi Multimedia Museum” at Gandhi Smriti, and the “Crossing project: Living, Dying and Transformation” in Banaras.
The ” Planet Health” project aims to create an exciting, crowd pulling, world-class cultural and scientific landmark, which will also serve as a valuable resource in traditional healing sciences and well-being.
The initial section starts with the exploration of the concept of the body in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Naturopathy, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) traditions, leading to the concept of health and therapies in various disciplines including the contributions of the founding theorists, physicians as well as historical documentation of traditional manuscripts.
The section also allows people to develop an understanding of valuable micro and macrocosmic relationship of the body and the elements, body and nature and the notions of balance and harmony.
The language of the exhibition includes combination of traditional arts and crafts and modern computing imagery; touch sensitive sculpture and interactive isolations. (ANI)
