Chandigarh, Feb 1 (ANI): Haryana Government has requested the Centre that the CBI should probe into the kidney scam.
The State Government has urged the Centre for a CBI probe as the scandal is spread over several states and it has international links also.
“The State Government had written a letter to the Centre urging it to hand over the probe into the kidney scandal to the CBI,” said K S Bhoria, Haryana Home Secretary.
The Centre has expressed its willingness to entrust the probe to CBI.
Haryana police would continue with its investigation.
The multi-billion-rupee kidney scandal was unearthed recently in Gurgaon, a satellite township of New Delhi.
Police earlier detained five other suspects including a doctor for allegedly luring poor donors from Uttar Pradesh and illegally selling their kidneys.
Those involved in the case are believed to have sold about 500 kidneys in the past six years.
The mastermind behind the racket, Dr. Amit kumar is absconding. So far, four persons have been arrested in the case. (ANI)
