New York, November 5 (ANI): A controversial episode of Hannah Montana, dealing with diabetes, has been withdrawn by the Disney Channel after it received complaints from worried parents.

The episode sees teen actress Miley Cyruss character Hannah dealing with her buddy Oliver, who is diagnosed with diabetes, and giving a feel-good message to the audience that the disease can be successfully dealt with.

The No Sugar, Sugar episode, which was to go on air on November 9, had been viewed by parents in an on-demand version, reports the New York Daily News.

A spokesman said: “During the scriptwriting stage of the ”Hannah Montana” episode in question (entitled ”No Sugar, Sugar”), the matter of depicting a character with diabetes was reviewed by our Standards and Practices executives who consulted with medical experts to inform the story and ensure that it was told responsibly.

“Notwithstanding the measures we took, and based on the episode’’s preview and early feedback from parents (who saw it on SVOD and/or mobile platforms), we removed the episode from Sunday’’s schedule and are now reevaluating it. (ANI)
