Guerrilla killed as troops foil infiltration bid
November 3rd, 2009 - 11:56 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Srinagar, Nov 3 (IANS) Security forces early Tuesday gunned down a separatist guerrilla while foiling an infiltration bid in the Tangdhar sector of the Line of Control (LoC) that divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
A defence spokesperson here said troops noticed suspicious movement near the LoC in the Tangdhar sector in Kupwara district and challenged a group of infiltrators who opened fire at the surrounding troops.
“The fire was returned, triggering a gunfight during which one militant was killed,” the the spokesperson said, adding that the operation was still in progress.
