Govt. advocates stringent punishment to food adulterators: Sahay
November 3rd, 2010 - 10:30 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Nov.3 (ANI): The Government on Wednesday advocated stringent punishment for those responsible for food adulteration.
It may be noted several cases of food adulteration are usually reported or come across the public during festival times.
Replying to questions on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi, the Union Minister of Food Processing Industry Subodh Kant Sahay called for addressing the issues faced by the food sector in a holistic manner.
Earlier, Mr. Sahay inaugurated the country’s first food testing laboratory. He said, in view of the stringent quality control in the international market this lab will ensure quality and safety of all meat products.
The Minister said that the country needs many such facilities for the supply of hygienic and safe meat and poultry products for domestic and export purposes. (ANI)
