Government will continue its war against Naxals, says Maharashtra Home Minister
October 9th, 2009 - 7:21 pm ICT by ANIMumbai, Oct 9(ANI): Jolted by the killing of 20 policemen by Maoists in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, the state Home Minister, Jayant Patil, on Friday said the Government will continue to fight the menace.
“Our battle against Naxals will continue. The attack has made our resolve to tackle the Naxal menace even more strong,” Patil said.
With just four days left for assembly elections on the state, massive combing operations continue in Gadchiroli District, which is situated in the southeastern corner of Maharashtra, and borders Chhatisgarh in the east, and Andhra Pradesh in the south and southwest.
Patil further said that adequate reserve security personnel have been deployed in Naxal-infested areas of Vidarbha.
Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has pressed two Mi17 copters for the joint operations being carried out by the Maharashtra and the Chhattisgarh police to nab naxals responsible for Thursday’s massacre. (ANI)
