Goa’s Education Minister detained at Mumbai airport

Mumbai, Apr 2 (ANI): Goa’s Education Minister Atanasio Monserrate has been detained at the Mumbai airport for carrying foreign currency above permitted limits.

According to reports, the customs officials detained Monserrate last night while he was on his way to Dubai. The Minister is still being question by the custom officials.

Earlier in February, Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and his 16-member troupe were detained for allegedly carrying about Rs. 60 lakh of undeclared foreign currency at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Indian laws allow up to 5,000 dollars in cash, or 10,000 dollars in traveller’s cheques to be taken abroad. (ANI)
