Goa Governor SC Jamir takes additional charge of Maharashtra Governor

Mumbai, Mar 9 (ANI): Goa Governor Sanayangba Chubatoshi Jamir on Sunday took additional charge of the Maharashtra Governor.
Jamir was administered the oath of they office by Bombay High Court Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar at the Raj Bhawan here.
Jamir, 77, will address the joint sitting on Monday when the budget session of State Legislature commences.
He was born in 1931 in Ungma village in Nagaland and became the Goa Governor in 2004.
Jamir entered the Lok Sabha from Nagaland in 1961 and also served in various capacities at the Central Government. He was first elected to the Nagaland assembly in 1971. He became the Chief Minister of the state in 1980.
Jamir took additional duties of Maharashtra in the wake of S.M. Krishna’s resignation on March 5.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna had resigned as Maharashtra’s Governor to return to active politics in his home state.
S M Krishna left state politics after the 2004 Assembly Elections, when the Congress was forced to form a coalition with the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) to stay in power. (ANI)
