Gill paid a visit to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to meet Baljit, where the injured payer had underwent a three-hour surgery on his right eye.
On his part, Gill offered full support to the player and promised to look after him well.
“The Sports Authority of India will make sure that he (Baljit Singh) stays in Delhi. AIIMS needs atleast four to six weeks to monitor him, because if he goes away to his native town in Punjab, the care would not be available for him there,” said M S Gill.
“So we will take care in every possible way. He will stay here as long as it takes and we will then review, the doctors will guide me on what is being done. What I want to assure you is that we will take every care of the boy,” Gill added.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper sustained a global rupture when he was struck in the eye during the golf ball training session.
Referred to as Corneoscloral Perforation of the eye in medical terms, the injury has caused damage to the retina, cornea and lens of his eye. (ANI)
