German goalkeeper ready to put life on the line for Euro gloryJune 24th, 2008 - 4:47 pm ICT by ANI
London, June 24 (ANI): German goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has said that he is ready to put his life on the line to win the European Championship.
The former Arsenal star, who quit London to sign for Stuttgart, said: To win would be everything, just everything.
It would mean so much and then I could talk of what I will do in the future. I cant promise victory for my country, but I will do what it takes to make sure we are in the final and then to win it. My life is on the line, The Mirror quoted him, as saying.
I have been in good form through the entire tournament and the pressure is growing. I like it like that, love the tension and pressure, he said.
Germany will take on Turkey in the first semi-final, and therefore, remains wary of them.
Skipper Michael Ballack said: They have a mentality similar to ours. There is an inner strength. But we have a great chance even if the Turks are difficult to estimate because they have shown many different faces at this tournament.
Our attitude has to be good. We can see the final, feel the pot. To win it would be enormous, he added. (ANI)
