Srinagar, Apr 19 (ANI): Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has warned of fresh unrest in Jammu and Kashmir if the state government does not withdraw its decision to issue Dogra certificates to the residents of Jammu by April 30.

Addressing a seminar here, Geelani said the issuing of Dogra certificate to the people of Jammu has no legal base or justification.

“The Dogra certificate is mainly a false certificate which the government has implemented. As far as our party Hurriyat Conference is concerned, we are clearly against it. A false certificate is being issued in the name of the Dogra certificate, and, we immediately demand the government to revoke this certificate,” he added.

Geelani added if the government did not revoke the controversial order by April 30, the conglomerate would stage peaceful protests.

“We give time to the government till April 30 and if this certificate is not cancelled, in May, we will again call a meeting, and we will take decision on how we will peacefully protest against the issuance of this certificate,” said Geelani.

As per an order issued by Jammu and Kashmir’s Minister of Revenue Raman Bhalla on March 27, all residents of Jammu who are otherwise eligible for the Permanent Resident Certificate under the Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Permanent Resident Certificate (Procedure) Act can get the Dogra certificate.
