Gary Glitter appeals against travel ban
November 22nd, 2008 - 6:50 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )London, Nov 22 (ANI): English singer Gary Glitter, convicted for sexual offences in Vietnam, has appealed against the travel restrictions that had been put in place following his return to the U.K.
The pop paedophile, whose real name is Paul Gadd, has served in a Vietnamese prison for almost three years for sexually assaulting two girls aged nine and 11.
After he was transported back to the UK, Glitter, 64, was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register, which meant that he had to inform British authorities of any plans to go abroad.
When his recent application to travel to Spain via France was turned down by a judge in September (08), Glitter decided to fight the restriction altogether, the Daily Express reported.
Lawyers acting on behalf of the rocker brought the case before a judge at London’’s Harrow Crown Court on Friday (21Nov08), when an appeal date was set for 19 February (09). (ANI)
